If you’re familiar with the slogan “they march to the beat of a different drummer…” That “different drummer” may, in fact, be Bobbie Sea Siegel! That’s right, Bobbie’s career began in New York City in 1969. This scared kid who had never taken so much as a long distance bus ride, decided to leave college in Richmond, Virginia to pursue her dream of playing drums in the music capital of the world. Not only would she have to compete with some of the world’s best drummers, but she’d have to overcome the fact that (in 1969) women/girls just didn’t play drums! While struggling to be accepted in music, she worked as a secretary and also studied modeling at The Barbizon School. A major benefit of The Barbizon School was that it provided her with a strong foundation in the study of skin care…..that she would eventually fall back upon some 50 years later. Oh yes, and she did break the glass ceiling and ended up playing drums at some of the best clubs in the New York metropolitan area.
In 1977, she quit music to raise a family in Houston Texas, where she also established herself in the field of interior design. While playing tennis in the 1980’s, Bobbie aggravated an old neck injury from a horseback riding incident. She was diagnosed with 3 herniated discs and several doctors recommended surgery. Bobbie’s husband, Barry, had already begun the study of alternative/holistic medicine because he was horrified at what aging was doing to his parents. Bobbie thought Barry’s obsession with diet, exercise and supplements was rather strange. But, in an effort to help Bobbie cope with the pain and sleepless nights, Barry researched and found Dr John Boren,…a highly respected Chiropractor and inventor of chiropractic equipment. Dr Boren, who has since become a lifelong friend and mentor to Bobbie, not only allowed her to avoid surgery.. but he awakened in her a keen interest to the fields of alternative/holistic/integrative medicine.
In 1990, Barry, Bobbie’s husband, won a recruitment advertising contract to attempt to diversify the workforce of the Houston Police Department. His proposal was to use music and a famous celebrity in an ad campaign aimed at The African American community. The famous celebrity turned out to be George Foreman. The music was an original composition Barry & Bobbie wrote entitled “Make A Difference on Your Block, Become a Houston Cop.” It was a highly successful, award winning campaign.
In the early 2000s, Bobbie and Barry’s children were grown and The Internet was threatening to end Barry’s Advertising Agency career. It was time for them to return to the music scene. Bobbie was concerned about being a little rusty, so Barry arranged for her to take a series of lessons from the Legendary Drummer, Bernard “Pretty” Purdie. She also was afraid that “people would laugh at the old lady playing drums.” Bobbie’s reluctance disappeared when Purdie told her “You sure don’t look like you play like you do!” With the famed mentor’s approval and encouragement, Bobbie was ready to hit the stage again. With Bobbie suddenly viewing her age and gender as an asset rather than a liability, they put a band together, released three CDs and started performing at clubs throughout Houston. Their participation in charitable foundations including The Conrad Johnson Youth Orchestra and The Houston Blues Museum introduced them to a need to educate the public about the history of Rhythm & Blues and Jazz Music. As a result, they put together a Broadway type show entitled “Who Put the ‘H’ in Rhythm & Blues.” From 2017-2020, the show ran in theaters, hotels and major ballrooms to rave reviews…Then Covid came along and it was impossible to keep the show going.
The show featured “85 songs that changed the world. “ It was an extremely difficult show to perform and actually negatively affected Bobbie’s health. She became so run down, that she felt her life was in jeopardy! Simultaneously Barry received a call from a former musical partner, John Harley Jr, who he had not been in contact with for almost 50 years. John had just signed on with a manufacturing company that invented The AGE Pill, a nutraceutical created to help astronauts endure the radiation and rapid aging associated with travel to Mars. This supplement was designed to fortify stem cells in order to allow the astronauts to withstand the rigors of space travel in order to perform at peak levels upon arrival on Mars. Barry was intrigued and immediately started taking this and other toxin free nutraceuticals developed by this manufacturer. Bobbie was very skeptical.
As Bobbie’s health continued to deteriorate, she ended up in an old friend’s office, Dr Tariq Shafi. Dr Shafi is both an MD and PhD Naturopath. While in the waiting room, Bobbie noticed that Dr Shafi had all kinds of stem cell research materials spread around. She asked Dr Shafi to research The Age Pill…..the product Barry was taking. After one week of research, Dr Shafi reported back that this product was very sound and extremely impressive. So Bobbie, too, started taking The Age Pill and other nutraceuticals from this manufacturing company. Her health did such a rapid 180, that it couldn’t have possibly been a coincidence. During this time frame, our nation was being devastated by the Covid epidemic. As a result, Bobbie felt that it was not only her calling… but her responsibility to spread the word about the wellness, longevity, and toxin free products produced by this wonderful manufacturing company that completely changed her lifw.
Bobbie immediately started reading every book and watching every video she could get her hands on dealing with wellness and longevity. She also carved out the time commitment necessary to become Certified in Nutrition and Cancer Prevention by beatcancer.org.
In addition to spreading the word about wellness and longevity techniques through traditional marketing techniques. Barry & Bobbie have created and regularly perform “Beat The Clock,” a musical comedy that combines a live music concert with a longevity/wellness seminar. Barry and Bobbie believe strongly that, in order to properly spread the word, they need to look the part. Barry is 81 years old and does two sets of 70 pushups every other day. Bobbie, who is approaching her 76th birthday, is constantly asked, “what in the world are you doing to look and perform the way you do?” No, rather than laughing at “the old lady behind the drums,” the audiences are hoping to emulate her energy, wellness, longevity, and beauty secrets!
Bobbie has indeed found her purpose in life. Five years ago, she thought her purpose would be “to help the public by volunteering at a hospital.” Thanks to the discovery of this wonderful manufacturing company, Bobbie’s purpose now is to “keep people out of the hospital!” Now, isn’t Bobbie Sea Siegel that “different drummer” you should be marching with?
